Corvara Travel
Corvara is located in an area known as the Alta Badia ("high Badia" or, to be more accurate, the area to the south and higher than the town of Badia). Corvara is located on the northwestern side of the Sella Ronda circuit and is probably most easily reached from the west via the main Adige valley which runs between the Austrian border and the city of Verona to the south.
The best access to airports, public transport and motorway connections is from that side, although given good weather and the proper equipment it is possible to access the resort from the north and the east.
Travel by Car
As mentioned above, Corvara is best approached from the Innsbruck to Verona motorway, a busy route between north and south Europe which does however have the advantage of excellent connections.
The motorway is exited south of Brixen (Bressanone) and the route heads up the Val Gardena through the ski resorts of that valley and then up and over the Passo Gardena and down past the hamlet resort of Colfosco into Corvara.
Corvara can also be approached from the north through the Pustertal (Val Pusteria) or from the south and east from Arabba and then over the Passo Campolongo.
Distances
Innsbruck 132km - north over the Brenner
pass to the Austrian motorway junction at Innsbruck
Venice 189km - south through the mountains to the
motorway east and west
Verona 216km - west to the motorway and then south
to the major junction at Verona
Travel by Air
Corvara has plenty of choice when it comes to airports, many of which are served with flights from the low-cost airlines from the UK or with travel company charter flights. The largest and most likely to have convenient scheduled flights from further afield are Venice (Marco Polo) Airport and Innsbruck Airport, which has a wide range of winter flights also aimed at the Tyrolean resorts.
There is an airport transfer service offered through the Alta Badia tourist office for four local airports: Bergamo, Verona and the two Venice airports. Details are available from www.altabadia.org.
